Crytek’s Robinson: The Journey Coming to PC – No Longer Exclusive

Robinson: The Journey

The November 2016 release of the PlayStation VR brought some great virtual reality launch titles with it. One of those games is Robinson: The Journey, developed by Crytek. Thought to be a PlayStation exclusive, the game will soon be available on PC for those with the Oculus Rift hardware.

The announcement comes from the developer’s website. While no official release date or price point has been given, owners of the Oculus Rift now have the highly appraised game to look forward to some time in January, 2017.

Robinson: The Journey is a sci-fi adventure that takes place on a remote planet that is inhabited by dinosaurs. Players will take on the role of a young explorer who has been stranded in a desolate situation. Crytek has taken the power of virtual reality to provide a fully immersive adventure and puzzle game.

Leveraging the immersive power of VR, Robinson: The Journey invites players to step into the shoes of Robin – a boy left stranded on an extrasolar planet in the aftermath of a doomed space voyage. Accompanied by AI unit HIGS and baby T-Rex Laika, Robin must use his wits to survive in a world full of adventure, secrets, and breathtaking dinosaurs. Rift players will feel truly present in another reality as they search for fellow survivors and unravel the mystery at the heart of Robin’s journey.

Crytek is responsible for such games as Far Cry, Warface, Crysis, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Homefront: Revolution. The company is also responsible for the CryEngine gaming engine, which has been used for all of their games as well as countless others that include State od Decay, Star Citizen, and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. The fifth generation (CryEngine 5) was used in Robinson: The Journey and is being used for the highly anticipated first-person shooter, Prey.
