Microsoft Reveals Xbox One 'Sport White Special Edition' Controller

While we are still waiting to hear more about a potential Xbox Elite Controller 2 arriving at some point in the future, Microsoft has decided to temporarily sate our appetites by announcing a ‘Sport White Special Edition’ Xbox One wireless controller. Revealed earlier today through the official Xbox website, the simplistic, minty fresh color schemed controller will be available for purchase for $69.99 in stores in the US and Canada on July 31, and will begin shipping worldwide on August 7. Here’s the breakdown of the new controller, courtesy of Microsoft:

“Inspired by trends in athletics and sports lifestyle, the Xbox Wireless Controller – Sport White Special Edition is the first controller in the new Sport series. It features an energetic color palette with a fresh white base color (the same white offered through Xbox Design Lab), mint accents, and grey and silver patterns.

The grey rubberized diamond grip on the back of the controller is designed for comfort and will help you stay on target throughout your gaming session. In select markets, this controller comes with 14-day trials for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass. Check with your local Microsoft Store for details.”

Of course, what’s a cool wireless controller without a fancy charging stand to go with it? The post also reveals the optional “Sport White Special Edition Xbox Pro Charging Stand” for those looking to complete the minty fresh look with a matching base. According to Microsoft, the stand is a “premium charger offering a sleek design and a seamless charging experience. Built with the same high-quality material as the Xbox Wireless Controller – Sport White Special Edition, it’s always an exact match and perfect fit. Each Xbox Pro Charging Stand comes with a premium charging stand, battery cover, rechargeable battery, and 6-foot power cord.” The charging stand will be available for $49.99, with an availability date of August 7 for North America.

As with all Xbox wireless controllers, the Sport White Special Edition controller is fully compatible with the Xbox One family of devices, and the latest new addition features a 3.5mm headphone jack, custom mapping via the Xbox Accessories app, and Bluetooth technology for Windows 10 devices and Samsung Gear VR.
