Xbox One S Now Offering 4K Streaming Through Amazon Video

A popular term being thrown around in recent gaming is “4K”, and it is popping up everywhere. In the case of Microsoft, there’s very little that supports 4K, until Project Scorpio arrives that is. Until then, fans will have to suffice with the Xbox One S, with the ability to support streaming of 4K media playback. While the Netflix and Hulu apps already feature 4K streaming capabilities on the console, it wasn’t until recently that the same could be said for the Amazon Video app.

Microsoft announced last week that the Amazon Video app on Xbox One S consoles have  been updated to enable the support of 4K streaming. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the standard Xbox One consoles as they do not support 4K output. Amazon-produced shows especially have this functionality such as: The Man in the High Castle, Bosch, Sneaky Pete, and The Grand Tour featuring everyone’s favorite hosts from Top Gear.

Viewers who have the app already installed will need to update, if it hasn’t automatically done so in order to get in on the 4K support. Those who don’t have the app may do so from the Xbox Store and will be able to sign up for the 30 day trial to access the Amazon library.

With the Project Scorpio smashing through expectations with the specs, do you think this was a good move to provide further 4K support for the Xbox One console?
