Xbox One Career System Bringing New Challenges and Loot Crates For Avatars

Xbox One Career System

Xbox One achievements in games are designed as rewards for passing milestones while gaming, give players new challenges outside of their normal play style. Unfortunately since the invention of the achievements system, the only rewards players have been able to truly see reflect their efforts has been a point value added to their gamerscore. But what if that gamerscore could be made even better? Microsoft seems to think it can and the company is currently testing a new feature called the “Xbox One Career System,” which aims to bring more substantial rewards to players, namely through the revamped Xbox One Avatars.

It’s been previously reported that the Xbox One’s achievements would be receiving some much needed fundamental changes and it appears this careers system is one of the various answers Microsoft has come up with. Reportedly the system will be mechanically similar to a Prestige system in games such as Call of Duty or Titanfall. Levelling will be done through completing particular objectives, including specific game missions. As players make progress on each tier of the revamped system, they’ll unlock rewards such as cosmetic items which can be worn by their new and improved avatars.

According to Windows Central, the program will run through a new subdomain of Xbox Live called Career.XboxLive.com, though the site has yet to go live. Hopefully the new Xbox One Career system will be able to bring about a new rewarding experience for all players. The system does look quite appealing. There were more than a few fans excited to see that the Avatar system would be receiving a much needed update and being able to show off your achievements through more than a simple gamerscore will be quite a delight. This new system won’t replace gamerscore either, acting as more of an addition than a replacement.

Originally the Avatar 2.0 system was thought to be arriving in the Fall of 2017 but has seen several delays. The feature is now expected to arrive sometime early this year, however no official release date has been named.
