WATCH: WWE Champion AJ Styles Smashes Several Classic Gaming Controllers

AJ Styles

Fans of the WWE are likely accustomed to seeing wrestler AJ Styles compete between the ropes of the squared circle, but the recent holiday season also sees the “Phenomenal One” take out a few of his most nagging gamer frustrations. With the aid of fellow wrestler Austin Creed (dressed as Santa), a new series of videos see Styles settle a few of his long-standing feuds with gaming consoles, proceeding to completely destroy several of their respective controllers.

During the week-long UpUpDownDown event called the “6 Days of Smashing”, Styles details the beef he has with classic gaming systems, all of which only seem to fuel his desire for controller carnage. From his frustration with the infamously brittle Atari 2600 joystick, to his mercy killing of the Sega Saturn controller, the current WWE Champion takes great pleasure in replacing those bad memories with gloriously cathartic destruction. Witness the annihilation in the YouTube playlist below.

While the holidays come to a close, a number of year-end tidings have been teasing what’s next for gaming in 2018. This season’s Nintendo 64 success has revealed a hidden retro gaming demand, and a few recent Amazon listings have hinted at upcoming Nintendo Switch news. Also, we could soon be smashing our own controllers in frustration if that awesome-sounding Devil May Cry sequel comes out as expected.

What do you think? Should AJ Styles resolve his controller-smashing anger issues, or was this way too entertaining to ever suggest such a thing?
