WWE 2K22 Sets March Release Window, New Footage Revealed (VIDEO)

WWE 2k22 Edge

It’s been a while since we have last seen anything about the upcoming WWE 2K22, but the long hiatus appears to be over, if only for a moment. Revealed in an all-new teaser trailer, the latest of 2K’s wrestling-focused simulator titles is officially set for a March 2022 release, officially announcing the updated launch plans with a sizzle reel of in-game footage.

As seen below, developer Visual Concepts has shown off 30 seconds of new work-in-progress gameplay, featuring several prominent superstars like Rey Mysterio, Drew McIntyre, and the “Head of the Table” himself Roman Reigns as they perform their energetic entrances as well as a few in-ring moves. The footage isn’t particularly lengthy, but the progress update nonetheless offers a nice look at the upgraded visual experience coming to WWE 2K22.

The release of WWE 2K22 certainly has a lot to prove in terms of its overall quality. The series’ last entry was memorably the butt of internet memedom for its many game-breaking glitches available at launch. In fact, the title was so maligned, 2K actually took its forthcoming WWE game back to the drawing board and skipped the series’ yearly release with hopes of revitalizing the game’s quality and meeting fans’ next-gen expectations.

With the reveal of this new trailer, the dev team looks to be heading in the right direction, with character models and wrestling animations sporting a noticeable upgrade in comparison to 2K20. Visual Concepts have teased as much over the past few months, with newly 3D-scanned superstars and “over 4,800 new or updated animations” in store for the new WWE 2K22. Though things seem to be shaping up, we won’t see many more details until 2022, with the next showcase scheduled for sometime this January.
