Warframe Reveals New Open World Hub On Venus (VIDEO)
Warframe is approaching its five-year milestone this March, and developer Digital Extremes dedicated its latest livestream, ‘Devstream #107’, to both celebrate its upcoming anniversary and provide its viewers with a first look at the free-to-play title’s next open world area, Venus. Unlike the Plains of Eidolon, Venus is a Corpus-controlled planet, which is rather noticeable in the art style of the structures found on the surface. Check out the Devstream video below, with concept art for Venus showing up roughly 51 minutes in:
Details are still scarce in regards to the actual gameplay on Venus, though the developers (and Spacemom!) have revealed that the planet is very hot, so much so that the Corpus control the temperature by forming coolant glaciers in the sky and sending them hurtling towards the surface. After impact the melted coolant gets absorbed by nearby coolant towers, which in turn regulate the surface temperatures.
One interesting difference between Venus and the Plains of Eidolon is that the former has no day and night cycle, as the Sun merely circles Venus’s horizon. As the Plains rotated its enemy types out depending on the time of day, it appears Venus will instead be utilizing a winter storm system that will serve as level gates. Another exciting detail is that Venus will be roughly double the size of the Plains of Eidolon, which should make for some pretty awesome Archwing joyrides.
Warframe is available for free on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A full reveal for Venus is expected at some point this year.
