SEGA Announces Total War: Warhammer 2 with a Brand New Cinematic Trailer (VIDEO)
Elves, more elves, and also lizard people! Now, that is a peculiar sounding three-way…battle, but we’ll take it! According to SEGA and Creative Assembly, the setting of Total War: Warhammer 2 will take place in Ulthuan and each team must seize control of the Vortex. However, there’s a fourth race hides amidst the shadows waiting for the right time to make a grand entrance. In due time, players will get a chance to meet them. For now, Malekith “The Witch King” Dark Elf, Mazdamundi the “Slann Mage-Priest” Lizardman, and Prince Tyrion “Defender of Ulthuan” of the High Elves duke it out in the cinematic trailer. Check out the video below:
Playing as one of 8 Legendary Lords across 4 iconic races from the world of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, players must succeed in performing a series of powerful arcane rituals in order to stabilize or disrupt The Great Vortex, while foiling the progress of the other races. Each Legendary Lord has a unique geographical starting position, and each race offers a distinctive new playstyle with unique campaign mechanics, narrative, methods of war, armies, monsters, Lores of Magic, legendary characters, and staggering new battlefield bombardment abilities.
According to the official Steam page for Warhammer 2, a “colossal new combined campaign” will be made available and free for those of whom own both the original and the upcoming sequel. That means you should be able to begin a new campaign with any race from 1 or 2! With so little being shown in the clip, it is hard to believe this is going to be an entire sequel when the previous was just released in May 2016. There’s no doubt that fans of the franchise will be skeptical. In fact, some are even wondering if this shouldn’t just be a DLC. Only time will tell what SEGA and Creative Assembly have in store, but here’s to hoping there’s more to it than a pretty cinematic!
A release date has not been specified, but the anticipation is sometime this year which is hinted toward the end of the trailer above.
