Skyrim Director Todd Howard Teases the Next Mobile Game for Bethesda
Todd Howard, the director at Bethesda behind notorious titles such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim, talks about what’s next for the dev team in terms of the mobile market.
Bethesda’s first mobile game, Fallout Shelter, was a tremendous success making just over 5 million dollars in its first two weeks after launch. Fans scrambled to get their hands on this simplistic Fallout title and it even became the most played Fallout game in the entire franchise. The mobile title is even making its way to consoles, which is something the team over at Bethesda never expected.
Given the amount of traction their first release gained, it shouldn’t really shock anyone to see that they have big plans for the future of Bethesda’s place in the mobile market. In a recent interview, the developer had this to say:
We do have another mobile project game that we thought about for awhile. Based on the Shelter experience, we’re kind of rolling on something new.
With the successful launch of the remastered Skyrim title, it could be in the realm of possibility for something along those lines or it could be an entirely new concept all together, only time will tell.
Bethesda expanded their work space by opening up an office in Montreal. The reason for this move was to “expand its development capabilities to console, PC, and the mobile market.” With the successful launches of other video game-to-mobile adaptions such as Pokemon Go, Super Mario Run, and Fire Emblem Heroes (not to mention the countless other mobile titles off of Halo, Mass Effect, Injustice, and many more), it would be great for Bethesda fans to see this developer conquer even more of the market.
What do you guys think?
