Fallout Shelter is Getting the ‘Play Anywhere’ Treatment

Everyone’s favorite Pip boy has struck again in the gaming field! Fallout Shelter, a title that originally started off as a mobile title, has finally breached the console stratosphere and joined the ranks as a PC title. If you’re unfamiliar as to what Fallout Shelter is all about, the game consists of strategy and careful planning as you, the Vault Overseer, builds the perfect vault to protect inhabitants from nuclear Armageddon. Not only do you get to build the perfect vault, but you can also oversee a thriving community of survivors, ensuring that enough food, water, and provide jobs to your community as they flourish. It’s kind of like a 2D version of the Sims.

Fallout Shelter

If this sounds like a game that’s right up your alley, but don’t want to use up your mobile data playing it, the PC version is the way to go. Recently, Microsoft made an announcement that aside from the fact that you can play the game on PC, Fallout Shelter is also getting the Play Anywhere treatment, which means you can swap between Xbox One and Windows 10 and still retain your data. Just like other Play Anywhere titles, this gives the player a chance to utilize the ease of Xbox’s controller to operate the game if they choose to, before switching back to Windows’ version. So far there have been  no announcements from Steam about whether or not the game will be made available in their library. This could be because the PC version can only be loaded with the Bethesda.net Launcher. though no word has been given if this is a requirement or not.

Play Anywhere has been gaining traction in popularity over the past couple months. Most recently, Resident Evil 7 has been added to the Play Anywhere library, and it looks like the number of compatible games is only growing. With the addition of Fallout Shelter, it’s proving that Microsoft may be making some serious headway in the monopoly of gaming, offering a chance to switch back and forth so seamlessly. It’ll be interesting to see how the competition fares in the face of this competitive move.

So what do you think about the announcement of adding Fallout Shelter to Play Anywhere? Have you had a chance to play the mobile version yet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and game on!
