The Witcher Showrunner Reveals Why Jaskier Didn't Wear His iconic Hat

Netflix’s The Witcher series has been lauded as being a massive success ever since season one of the show was released late last year, climbing the charts to earn itself a spot on Netflix’s top 10 most watched shows despite only having less than two weeks to prove itself. With fans now looking forward to the show’s second season, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich hopped onto Reddit for a Q&A session to answer some burning questions fans have had since watching the show.

One such question involved our favorite bard, Jaskier, with the Redditor asking Hissrich why he didn’t wear his iconic hat (shown above) at any point during the first season. “Ah, yes, the hat! It was made, we tried it on Joey [Batey], and we couldn’t stop laughing,” Hissrich replied. Will we try again? Sure. Nothing is impossible.”Now that pre-production has already begun on the second season of the show, any number of changes are now being considered in order to address a few flaws fans found with the first season, some of which were entirely baseless.

The Witcher Showrunner Teases Jaskier's Character Development In Season 2

Once such potential change could be Jaskier’s overall appearance. For one, he didn’t seem to age despite the fact that the first season of The Witcher covered a span of several decades, something Lauren S. Hissrich admitted herself during the Q&A. “…we dropped the ball on aging him up over the course of the show,” she said. “It’s hard to show the passage of time when everyone looks the same, so we’ll be approaching that differently in S2.”

As mentioned, season two of Netflix’s The Witcher series is now in pre-production.
