The Witcher Series’ Leaked Release Date Addressed By Netflix
With Game of Thrones having finished its eight season run, all eyes are on competing networks and streaming services for the next big fantasy series. For gamers, the big contender to fill the void has been the upcoming Netflix series starring Henry Cavill based on The Witcher. While the series has yet to have an officially announced release date, a recent big leak seemed to indicate the series would premiere on December 17th. Now, it seems like Netflix has decided to comment on the leaked Witcher series release date, and whether or not it can be trusted as accurate.
A Netflix representative recently spoke with the Video Games Chronicle about the supposed leaked Witcher series release date. For those unaware, the official Netflix Netherlands Twitter account released a post on September 11th that claimed fans would have to wait only 97 more days until The Witcher series premiered. Doing the math, this would fall on December 17th, 2019. The posts were quickly deleted, and Netflix representative told VGC the following regarding the post:
The launch date for The Witcher has not yet been confirmed. The post was made by Netflix accounts in the Netherlands in error, and not all of the information contained in it is accurate/final.”
Based on this wording, December 17th very well may be the intended and final release date for the new Witcher series. Netflix even previously stated their intent to premiere the show during the fourth quarter of the year, and this would fall in that window. However, the series could premiere in 2020, or even earlier than December. Chances are, it will likely be made known soon when Geralt and company’s horses will be arriving at the Netflix stable.
