The Witcher Netflix Series Showrunner Warns New Series Is Definitely NSFW
Based on the hit video games series inspired by the novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, a brand new Netflix original is on the way. Arriving later this year, The Witcher graces the small screen of subscribers everywhere with Superman star Henvry Cavill as the one and only Geralt of Rivia. If you’ve ever dabbled in the games, it’s plain to see that the gameplay and storyline was intended for mature audiences including not-safe-for-work unicorn debauchery and other giggly bits. Is that what showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich intends for the show though? Turns out, it is.
Just watched a cut of #Witcher with Ben, and the verdict is in: this show is not for 5-year-olds. Like, really not. #TalesOfAWorkingMom

Part of The Witcher’s charm were the mature themes that CD Projekt Red wasn’t afraid to dive right into. From the romance options Geralt could get himself into trouble with, the heart-breaking tales of star-crossed lovers, and gruesome characters – it wasn’t always for the faint of heart. Of course, there’s a lot to love beyond the explicit themes as well.
This isn’t the first time Hissrich has shared positively radiant news about The Witcher. Since her declaration as head writer, having linked arms with other talented industry creatives from Marvel, she’s been incredibly candid in regards to the show’s development. Based on our impressions so far, it looks like we’re in good hands.
Are you glad to hear that Netflix’s The Witcher won’t be safe for work, or were you hoping to enjoy this original with the whole family?
