The Outer Worlds Reveals Over 20 Minutes of Hilarious New Footage (VIDEO)

The upcoming role playing title from Obsidian Entertainment, The Outer Worlds, is set to be a dark and morbid (yet hilarious) game allowing players to see a world where every action within it has a unique and permanent reaction. Basically, it’s Fallout in space and now fans can get an even closer look at the upcoming adventure thanks to a brand new video!

Obsidian’s presentation at PAX East this year consisted of some substantial gameplay footage showing off the “City of the Elite,” known as Byzantium, a place built around a facade of wealth and perfection. As the player strolls through the city, they’re met rich atmosphere that feels almost like something out of a Bioshock game filled with advertisements and personality. Check it out below:

Dialogue also played a large part in the video with characters such as Nyoka and Felix, the player’s companions making their own quips along the way and a few sequences where the player interacted with various NPCs. Unfortunately not all the dialogue could be heard as the gameplay presented was a part of an alpha build, but the subtitles revealed a nice blend of serious information and silly humor.

Lastly some new “science” weapons were shown off that use different powers to destroy enemies with strange and wonderful effects. The “Mandibular Rearranger” for example was designed after developers found a bug and decided to make it into a weapon that enlarges or shrinks a target’s head with each hit as well as slowing them down until they freeze in place. With each damage type in the game a different effect can also be seen on bodies such as one that gets hit with corrosive damage, eroding away.

There’s no set release date yet for The Outer Worlds but it is expected to release sometime this year for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
