The Last Of Us HBO Show Gets Fan-Made Intro Sequence
With a real-life pandemic hitting the earth, The Last Of Us fans have been feeling that the planet has gotten a little too close to their favorite apocalyptic franchise for comfort. Luckily, right before recent events escalated, HBO announced that they would be ordering a new television series based off of the beloved NaughtyDog games. With the games’ creative director, original characters and score composer confirmed to be involved with The Last Of Us HBO show, many have wondered what the visual style of the show might look like. Well, one talented fan has created a poster and animated intro sequence that they believe might fit this potential vision.
I couldn’t help myself but make a fan-art poster for the recent announcement of #TheLastOfUs TV show. Mine features two great shouts for casting: @nikolajcw as Joel and @KaitlynDever as Ellie. @Naughty_Dog @HBO pic.twitter.com/QQJMUWoIh7

As reported on Prima Games, fan artist Olly Gibbs recently released several pieces of fan art related to the upcoming Last Of Us HBO Show on their official Twitter account. First, Gibbs created a poster for the series that depicts some of the most frequently seen fan castings for Joel and Ellie on social media. The poster has Game Of Thrones’s Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Joel and Last Man Standing’s Kaitlyn Dever as Ellie. But the fun did not stop there for Gibbs.
And I couldn’t not animate this either… #TheLastOfUs @HBO @Neil_Druckmann #FanArt pic.twitter.com/fk0Ji3U7CW

Gibbs also created a teaser poster and animated intro sequence for the series that primarily focuses on a group of cells seen under a microscope. The cells, when fully visible, form the logo for the infamous Fireflies militia group from the games. These pieces of fan art really seem to nail both the tone of the games plus the visual aesthetics that HBO often uses for their marketing material and title sequences for their heavier dramas. Hopefully the series gets to begin production sooner rather than later, but to face that cordyceps brain infection future, here in the real world we have our own virus to contend with.
