The Elder Scrolls Online Launches New Charity Initiative To #SlayDragonsSaveCats

The folks behind The Elder Scrolls Online are using their MMORPG platform to launch a brand new charity initiative under the hashtag #SlayDragonsNotCats. Revealed over on the official The Elder Scrolls Online website, the initiative has a start date of October 8th, upon which the floodgates will open to reveal new quests, in-game events, loads of rewards, and more.

With the release of the Elsweyr expansion, the player base saw a Khajiit nation that was under siege by a bevy of fearsome dragons. Thankfully, what goes around comes around, as ZeniMax Online Studios’ new initiative is tasking players with slaying dragons in the Dragon Rise event, where for every five dragons slain from now until December 9, 2019, the developer will donate $1 to pet welfare charities up to $200,000. This money will be split between the Best Friends Animal Society and FOUR PAWS.

“Over the duration of the charity initiative, players can look forward to a number of in-game activities beginning with Dragon Rise, kicking off on October 3 at 10AM ET and rolling through 10AM ET on October 14,” ZeniMax said. “Dragon Rise lets players explore Northern Elsweyr’s striking locales, take down merciless Dragons, and complete the Dragonhold prologue quest to unlock three unique rewards for all players who own the Elsweyr Chapter. You’ll find those rewards as well as a progress tracker here. And to top it all off, all Dragons killed during Dragon Rise count toward the #SlayDragonsSaveCats charity initiative!”

Players can also engage in a new Dragonhold Prologue quest beginning on October 8th, with the Dragonguard NPC Sai Sahan requesting assistance in finding anything that “may help in the last push against the Dragon menace.” Here’s a list of in-game events coming soon:

  • Witches Festival | 10/24 – 11/04: The grim spectacle of the Witches Festival once again returns to Tamriel. Take part in this ghastly celebration to enjoy bonus XP gains and earn terrifying rewards.
  • Undaunted Celebration | 11/14 – 11/18: Take on random dungeons via the Dungeon Finder to earn Mysterious Reward Boxes that can contain in-game rewards including Motif Chapters, weapon styles, and more.
  • Dawn of The Dragonguard | 11/26 – 12/09: Hunt down Elsweyr’s most dangerous monsters with your fellow players and you’ll earn new in-game loot. And remember, for every five Dragons slain during the time period, we’ll donate $1 to the #SlayDragonsSaveCats campaign.
  • New Life Festival | 12/19 – 01/02: Celebrate the end of another amazing year in Tamriel with the New Life Festival. The merry event returns with a host of fun quests and festive holiday rewards for all, including XP-boosting collectibles, unique furnishings, and more.

The Elder Scrolls Online is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
