We all know Sonic is among the fastest things alive when speeding through stages, but things were a bit more competitive when the hedgehog met up with his buddies for Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed. For months, rumors had been revving up about a sequel that would assemble another fast paced multi-vehicle adventure, but Sega surprisingly denied the existence of any such follow-up back in January. We now know that response was only technically true, as Sega has announced an all-new racing game titled Team Sonic Racing.

Having been behind the previous All-Stars Racing games, developer Sumo Digital returns to deliver what Sega describes as “the best elements of arcade and fast-paced competitive style racing.” The new game will feature several single player, 4-player multiplayer, team co-op, and online modes with characters consisting of “rival teams across the Sonic Universe.” A new trailer, which can be seen below, sees Sonic and his rival Shadow gearing up for a heated race, all while showcasing some sweet-looking vehicles.

Team Sonic Racing is scheduled to release sometime in Winter 2018 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is now available to pre-order. Sega has also laid out additional details about their upcoming game, all of which can be viewed below.

• Various Characters and Types– 15 playable characters from across the Sonic Universe and 3 distinct character types including Speed, Technique, and Power.
