Tales Of Arise Delayed, 2020 Release Not Happening (VIDEO)

Tales of Arise

Announced last year, Bandai Namco’s upcoming new entry in the ‘Tales of’ JRPG franchise, Tales of Arise, was all set to “arise” for current-gen consoles later in 2020, promising players a wealth of new stories, gameplay, as well as an array of unique worlds to discover. This big release seemed locked to release later this year, especially following the game’s confirmed showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2019. However, it appears that Tales of Arise will now no longer release in 2020, with producer Yusuke Tomizawa announcing the delay in a recent blog post.

Citing the studio’s plans to provide an “innovative gameplay experience” and reach a “high level of graphical quality,” Tomizawa confirmed ‘Arise’ will not release in 2020 as previously planned. Multiple “challenges” were said to have contributed to the game’s delay, including the team’s “remote development” put in place by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Considering the hurdles Tales of Arise continues to face, Tomizawa expressed the need for “more time to achieve the quality and provide the gorgeous experience we envision for our players.”

As a result of this day, the game currently has no release date, but Tomizawa promised this detail will change “once we have more details to share.” Until that time comes, publisher Bandai Namco assured development is still going strong in the meantime, accompanying the news with a piece of promotional art and illustrating how “it is always darkest before the dawn.” A full download of the artwork is currently available from the official website.

It’s been a while since new footage of Arise was shown off to the public, with 2019’s TGS being the last trailer fans have seen of the JRPG. The trailer showed off a bit of the stylish gameplay and stunning visuals referenced in the above blog post, introducing a number of explosive abilities as well as several characters set to be featured in the game. Check out the TGS trailer and game description below, via Bandai Namco.

Featuring a new cast of characters, updated combat, and classic Tales of gameplay mechanics, experience the next chapter in the world-famous Tale of series, Tales of Arise.”

Tales of Arise is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
