Nintendo Considering Zelda Maker Based On Link’s Awakening Success
Super Mario Maker captured the hearts of fans by giving them a chance to create their own levels and share them with players around the world. A sequel to the title is set to release very soon bringing even more options and tools for people to use in their creations. The upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is also looking to release a Dungeon Editor of its own and depending on the feature’s success Nintendo may look into creating a Zelda Maker as well.
While in a recent interview, series producer for Zelda Eiji Aonuma was asked whether or not Nintendo would ever consider a Zelda Maker in the future assuming the upcoming remake of Link’s Awakening and its Chamber Dungeon mode saw success. Aonuma explained that at the moment the company has no plans to make a Zelda Maker but if players end up loving the Chamber Dungeon mode, that developers will keep it in mind going forward. It isn’t a definitive yes, but its also hard to imagine that there won’t be plenty of fan interest.
Fans have tried to create a Zelda Maker in the past such as one created by hobbyist developer Justin Sink, though sadly his project was shut down by Nintendo. The creator has since begun development on a title running in a similar vein called Adventure Maker: Runiya. Super Mario Maker 2 is set to release on June 28th for the Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is set to release on September 20th.
