Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Reboot Reportedly In Development
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a cult classic role-playing game series that began in 2003. Since then, several Star Wars games have come and gone and fans still refer back to the that particular series with fondness even years later, especially the first KotOR. With a third game in development by Obsidian Entertainment, a film reportedly under way, and the recent release of Jedi: Fallen Order, rumors are of a remake have appeared once again.
Years back, rumors surfaced of a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake in the works, but there wasn’t solid evidence to lead off of. In the latest exclusive report by Cinelinx, development of said reboot has kicked off once again thanks to a new update from “two independent sources.”
One claim reveals that the project is a remake that’s been given the green light to reinstate development. Meanwhile, the second source says that rather than a remake, it is a sequel that would “integrate elements from the first two games in order to bring certain things into the current Star Wars canon.”
Unfortunately, a timeline or any additional details were left empty. For the time being, this remains a rumor until a reputable source states otherwise. Perhaps Electronic Arts will make an official statement within the next couple years? In light of their clear focus on the Star Wars franchise as of late, it seems likely.
What are your hopes for the “remake” of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? Which developer do you hope is taking the reigns on this project?
