Star Wars Celebration Pays Tribute to Carrie Fisher (VIDEO)
With the commencement of this year’s Star Wars Celebration, fans of this saga got a chance to remember one of the franchise’s most iconic actresses in a truly heartfelt tribute. During the festivities on Thursday, George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy both spoke about their experiences working with the late Carrie Fisher and what kind of impact she had on all of their lives. With this candid tribute by Lucas and Kennedy, Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, also stood up to pay homage to her mother, introducing a video tribute which features heartfelt moments, behind the scenes of the Star Wars saga, and some of her most famous moments on screen. This video was also shared on the official Star Wars Twitter account for thousands of fans to witness:
She was very challenging in terms of pointing out that certain pieces of dialogue were a little hard to say. She was brilliant, and obviously we will all miss her, but she will always be the princess who took command and never backed down, never was in jeopardy. She was always helping the other guys get out of the messes she created. We’ll all love her forever and ever. ~ George Lucas
It was at the end of the 40th anniversary panel that the touching video tribute was introduced. John Williams and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra closed it out by playing a rendition of Leia’s Theme, as a final testament to the powerful woman none will ever forget. Carrie Fisher passed away in December following a heart attack, and the four months since her passing have been filled with touching moments of remembrance from fans all across the globe. This tribute is no exception, and touches all our hearts as we remember this wonderful, powerful, and truly amazing woman.
