Star Wars Battlefront Offers Free Weekend for Death Star DLC

With the launch of Electronic Arts’ Star Wars Battlefront, we saw a return of the classic player vs player (pvp) style third person shooter (TPS) that pits the Galactic Empire forces against the Rebel Alliance in a galactic struggle both on the ground and in the skies. However, with a lack of a single player campaign and limited game play modes, Star Wars Battlefront saw a drop in active players fairly early on. Unfortunately it was not as well received as one might expect based on the following of previous Battlefront games. As low as the numbers of active players have dropped since launch the game has maintained a steady level of active players. Recently EA has seen that steady number receive a rise in player participation thanks to the anticipation and premier of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

In a sort of double celebration of the release of Rogue One as well as the holiday season EA has announced that they will be hosting a free to play weekend for this last falls addition to the game, the Death Star DLC. The Death Star DLC includes new maps from the Death Star, and a multi-stage Battle Station mode, as well as the addition of the characters Bossk the bounty hunter and of course, our favorite wookiee the mighty Chewbacca. The maps for the Death Star DLC as well as Battle Station mode will be available to play between December 23-25. No assurance of being able to access the new characters has been made but all maps and game modes will be open to play. The Death Star free-to-play weekend will also be overlapping the holiday double score event and will add an additional one time 5,000 credit bonus as a log in reward as well as double XP to players who log in between the 23rd and the 25th.

So if you are a fan of Star Wars Battlefront be sure to log in to try out those Death Star maps and modes if you don’t already have them and snag those 5,000 credits while you can. We at DFTG are going to be sure to take full advantage of the sweet rewards for this event. If you’re digging Battlefront, be sure to check out what else is new and as always from us at DFTG, may the Force be with you!
