Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to in 2018 with the coming storm of highly anticipated films for the year. Among the digital media rests Insomniac Games own addition to the Marvel Universe. The game is expected sometime this year but the publisher has not yet been forthcoming with the Spider-Man PS4 release date, with the exception of a few goals for a tentative release window.

Enter Sweedish online retailer “CoolShop” and their listing which includes a Spider-Man PS4 release date. As always this information is speculative, however, the site appears legitimate. Whether or not the date is true remains to be seen, but anything is possible. For those who haven’t had a chance to check out the title, here is a synopsis of the game from the CoolShop listing:

Starring the world’s most iconic Super Hero, Spider-Man PS4 (working title) features the acrobatic abilities, improvisation and web-slinging that the wall-crawler is famous for, while also introducing elements never-before-seen in a Spider-Man game. From traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, to new combat and blockbuster set pieces, it’s Spider-Man unlike any you’ve played before.

Marvel and Insomniac Games have teamed up to create a brand-new and authentic Spider-Man story. This isn’t the Spider-Man you’ve met before, or seen in a movie. This is an experienced Peter Parker who’s more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time he’s struggling to balance his chaotic personal life and career while the fate of nine million New Yorkers rests upon his shoulders.”

The Spider-Man PS4 release date places it outside the bounds of a placeholder date, which puts the leak within the realm of possibility. However, these things can change, as they often do. The date does give hope that there may be a fall release at the very least. That the listing hasn’t been taken down yet gives way to a little suspicion and we won’t know anything for sure until Insomniac makes an official announcement.
