Sony Is Auto-Refunding Those That Purchased Maneater On PS5

The recent announcement of the free PlayStation Plus games for January 2021 has had an added benefit for those that already own one of the upcoming freebies. Sony has recently begun to auto-refund players that have already purchased Maneater for the PS5 prior to the game going free for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The news comes by way of Redditor u/BraeWhyit, who revealed that Sony recently sent them a notice that they were refunding them due to their status as a PlayStation Plus member. “As a subscriber of PlayStation Plus, we will refund the purchase price of this product to your PlayStation store wallet as this is a PlayStation Plus monthly game,” the user’s confirmation reads.

This will not affect your ability to play the game as we have not removed the game from your library.”

Those familiar with PlayStation Plus may recall that canceling a subscription will remove access to any games downloaded from within the service. Thankfully this won’t be the case with Maneater, as those that are getting refunds have confirmed that they retain ownership of the original license. The auto-refunds haven’t extended to the other two PlayStation Plus titles for January 2021, so chances are this offer will likely be exclusive to the PS5 game.

Maneater is currently available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
