Shovel Knight Arby’s Kids Meal Toys Contain Nintendo Switch DLC
As video games become even more and more tied into the wider sociocultural landscape, their presence in merchandise and commerce outside of the electronic medium increase. This has especially seen lately in the world of fast food, where brands like KFC appeal to gamers with chicken-warming game consoles and restaurants like McDonald’s include Pokemon cards as Happy Meal prizes that catch the eyes of kids and scalpers alike. Shovel Knight has been a fan-favorite game for a few years now, and it finally gets a new realm to shine in with new Shovel Knight Arby’s kids meal toys that come with DLC.

Yacht Club games announced the new Shovel Knight Arby’s kids meal toys on their official Twitter account recently. The toys consist of seven launcher tokens, each of which depicts a Shovel Knight character shooting a projectile pictured on a round token. The seven characters include Shovel Knight, Shield Knight, Specter Knight, “Doctor Knight”, The Enchantress, Black Knight and King Knight. As a bonus, each toy also comes with a special code that unlocks Arby’s themed DLC for the game on Nintendo Switch and Steam.
Each of the seven unique codes from the Shovel Knight Arby’s toys adds some sort of Arby’s element to the game. For instance, the Enchantress comes with a code that changes the game’s enemies into roast beef sandwiches and Arby’s beverages. The Black Knight comes with a code that gives the player a flying roast beef sandwich fairy companion. Seeing these codes in action is really a sight to behold as such a clever cross-promotional event. The toys will be available in Arby’s kids meals until May 31st. We all knew Shovel Knight had a shovel, but now we can say he has the meats.
