Rocket League Dev Denies Affiliation With Real-Money Betting Platform Unikrn

Rocket League Dev responds to real-money betting concerns

Recently, real-money esports betting platform Unikrn announced that Psyonix’s Rocket League has joined the platform’s sportsbook lineup in Australia. Unikrn, which has offices in Seattle, Berlin, and Sydney, made the announcement after real-money betting was approved by regulators in Australia for the soccer-with-cars game. While real-money betting platforms adding additional games into their lineup is completely normal, the way with which Unikrn made the announcement caused some confusion as to whether or not this was a move Rocket League dev Psyonix was involved with. As such, Psyonix’s VP of Publishing, Jeremy Dunham, made a statement clarifying the Rocket League dev’s stance on online betting.

Psyonix is not affiliated with Unikrn, nor do we support or endorse online betting for our game.”

It appears that Unikrn realized that they were suggesting that Psyonix had played a part in Rocket League’s addition to their Australian sportsbook, as the Unikrn CEO Rahul Sood confirmed that they were, in fact, unaffiliated with Psyonix.

We are not in any way associated with the publishers of Rocket League.  However, we love the game, and like other titles on our sportsbook, we create odds and content on the pro matches and their top tier tournaments.”

Thankfully, the confusion was cleared up quickly, and the Rocket League dev can go back to creating more content for everyone’s favorite ‘just five more minutes’ game. On a related note, a huge update for Rocket League is arriving within the next 24 hours. The update, which includes the release of the new Dropshot mode and the addition of cosmetic Easter items, marks the end of Rocket League’s competitive Season 3, and the beginning of Season 4. While the rewards from the previous seasons included exclusive crowns and rocket trails, this season’s reward comes in the form of exclusive sets of wheels, depending on your highest rank achieved during the season.
