Red Faction Guerrilla Remaster Leaked

Red Faction Guerrilla

2018 is shaping up to be the year of game remasters. From Shadow of the Colossus to Secret of Mana to Dark Souls, combining iconic gameplay and nostalgia with modern day graphics is an instant recipe for success, one that benefits both game developers and gamers looking to revisit classic titles. Now, it appears that yet another iconic game is getting the remaster treatment. According to a leak revealed on Reddit, it appears that a Red Faction Guerrilla remaster is in development for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The leak in question comes to us by way of Redditor Reqqu, who noticed that GameStop websites from several different countries have a game listing for Red Faction: Guerrilla Remastered, with the option to pre-order the title. The countries that had said listings were Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. There of course hasn’t been an official announcement by the developer for a Red Faction Guerrilla remaster, though for such a listing to appear on a leading retailer like GameStop there leaves little room for doubt that the leak is for something legitimate.

Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red FactionRed Faction: Guerrilla allows players to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Red Faction: Guerrilla re-defines the limits of destruction-based game-play with a huge open-world, fast-paced guerrilla-style combat, and true physics-based destruction.”

Once news of the listing for the Red Faction: Guerrilla remaster spread, the ads on the previously mentioned GameStop websites were removed, giving even more credibility to the leak. As we have seen before, leaked game listings tend to preface the actual announcement of said games by mere days, so it is likely that an official announcement will be made by the developer soon. As with all leaks, though, all information gathered from unofficial sources should be regarded with a grain of salt. That said, given that the game listing was seen at multiple GameStop websites, fans of Red Faction Guerrilla can safely get excited for the remaster.
