Rapper 50 Cent Hoping To Make Third And More “Unique” Game
Sport video games used to commonly tout appearances by famous figures like John Madden and Tiger Woods as a selling point before decreased relevance in their given sport and public scandals made them less safe as poster figures. Who could also forget projects directly involving celebrities as playable characters, like the infamous Shaq Fu starring Shaquille O’Neal. One such person who has had video games starring himself in the past is rapper 50 Cent, who has now expressed interest in making a third title based on his public persona.
GameSpot recently conducted an interview with rapper 50 Cent promoting his new film, Den of Thieves. Given that they’re primarily a video game website, the topic of previous projects, 50 Cent: Bulletproof and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, naturally came up. When asked if he would ever consider being involved with another title, he confirmed that he does in fact have ideas for a new project. One that 50 Cent claims he might pursue is a game based on his upcoming Starz original series, Tomorrow, Today. Elaborating on that further, he adds:
I just have to find the right concept. Everything I touch, I want to be unique. I want it to be special. And I put thought into it, because those things will be here longer than I would…when I come up with [another game], I want to make sure it’s something we enjoy for a long time.”
The series Tomorrow, Today will be about a veteran who gains super powers after a mad scientist experiments on him. The idea certainly seems like it would lend itself well to video game mechanics, and as 50 Cent himself puts it, “It’s definitely a cool idea, and it gives people the ability to do things that they wouldn’t be able to do.”
While neither of his previous games were critical darlings, they were fun distractions for fans of 50 Cent’s music and rapper culture. Hopefully, he will be able to start work on the new game soon, in-between nights where he will be found in Da Club.
