PUBG Team Seeks To Expand Its Universe With Movies, Cartoons, And More

PUBG team expanding its focus

With PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds having finally released version 1.0 for PC, the dust is finally settling around an almost 1-year development period on Steam’s early access program. On the console side of things, the PUBG launch for Xbox One has gone off without a hitch, save for a few typical growing pains. With seemingly smooth sailing ahead the PUBG team is looking to the future, part of which includes a potential console launch on the PlayStation 4. Of course, the only real direction such as massively popular title can go in is up. In a recent interview with InvenGlobal, PUBG Corp CEO Chang Han Kim has revealed that he is looking to expand the PUBG universe to include Esports, movies, drama, and more.

I’d like PUBG to become a universal media franchise based on the game. We want to take part in diverse industries including Esports, movies, drama, cartoons, animation, and more. In fact, we received a couple of love calls from a number of developers in Hollywood and Netflix. Our dream is to build a new game-based culture through various ways like this, and have the lead of that culture.”

Expanding into other mediums such as Netflix is certainly a great idea for the PUBG team, especially with how successful Netflix has been recently with its recent content, especially its series of Marvel shows. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has proven to be massively successful, so there’s certainly no reason why fans shouldn’t expect more exciting content based on the battle royale game moving forward. PUBG is now available for PC and Xbox One.
