Dino Crisis Series May Return If Demand Is High Enough, Says Capcom

Dino Crisis may not be well-known to the mainstream video game culture today as it was in the 90s and early 2000s, but it seems like some fans are trying to bring it back. A survival horror game that first began in 1999 sent out its latest sequel in 2003 with Dino Crisis 3 for the Xbox. The plot in the first if the series is set in a government facility where the heroes must fight their way through an infestation of dinosaurs. As can be inferred, a mysterious accident caused a temporal mishap that displaced actual dinosaurs in this timeline. In response to an inquiry on social media, Capcom Division 1’s official Twitter stated that “if a lot of people wish”, the series could return.

The response from Capcom‘s Division 1 doesn’t solidify any development with the series, if enough gamers desired another sequel, it may very well happen. Since the Twitter post, there have been almost 800 re-tweets to bring attention to the news, but only a couple hundred reactions in favor. Though their Resident Evil franchise skyrocketed in popularity, Dino Crisis still garnered enough of a fanbase to receive two titles afterward. Based on that alone, a Dino Crisis 4 may not be heading to modern platforms anytime soon, but the possibility certainly is there.

Unfortunately, unless attention snowballs for this, the idea of a sequel may just be a flop. On the other hand, Capcom is hopeful for the future of past franchises. In the same thread of replies on Twitter, fans would love to see an Onimusha remake, and while they’re in favor of it “development staff is limited”.

What do you think of bringing back older games to modern platforms and game engines? Should they be left in the past, or are remakes worthwhile? Let us know in the comments section below or start a conversation on Don’t Feed the Gamers Facebook page.
