PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds ‘PUBG Grand Mobile Tour’ Coming to China
Tencent Holdings. Ltd and PUBG Corp. announced November 22nd they won the rights to bring the wildly popular “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” to the Chinese market. Speculation was furthered with the announcement yesterday, November 27th, that the collaboration will seek to release the game to mobile platforms.
The joint announcement by both Kim Changhan, CEO of PUBG Corp, and Ma Xiaoyi, Senior Vice President of Tencent Group, confirmed the joint venture of the PUBG Genuine Mobile Tour is to be released to tablets and mobile phones, widely popular in China. Promising to deliver the classic gameplay experience, they also promised to optimize the aspects of the game the majority of players care about most: The shooting feel, social networking, server hosting, and competitions.
Chinese regulators have stated that it is unlikely the South Korean made “Battlegrounds” will be released in China at this time due to the violent content that is not in “accord with socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture, and moral rules.” There has been no word yet on what changes to the game are going to be made to bring it into accord, nor has there been any word on any plans to release the mobile version of the game to the United States and other countries in the West.
