PS5 And Xbox Scarlett To Arrive In 2021, Predicts Analyst

PS5, Next Xbox “Not Necessarily” Prioritizing 4K, 60 FPS

It’s been predicted video games will be 100% digital by the year 2020. With online sales that dare to empty the pockets of hard-earned money from the likes of Steam, it’s certainly easy to see why. Of course, consoles have entered the digital market too with their own respective stores that feature annual and seasonal sales for gamers. As the years pass and the industry evolves, so does the hardware and analysts predict that the PS5 and the codenamed Xbox Scarlett will arrive sometime in 2021.

While it comes as no surprise to the seasoned gamers out there, Sony and Microsoft are preparing for the next generation in gaming – pushing past the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox One X, will be a new wave of modern gaming technology. There have been previous reports of each respective company’s plans of introducing the next gen, but it won’t be coming anytime soon it seems. According to GamingBolt, IDC analyst Lewis Ward believes these two will arrive after the predicted 2019 and 2020. Instead, the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett is more likely to launch in 2021. Ward states:

I’m not sure. My model currently projects both consoles will debut in 2021, a year later than many analysts seem to think. What happens to sales in 2019 will likely determine who is right, and narrow the launch window for next-gen consoles.”

With that said, Ward believes the 2019 sales of current generation models will affect the projected release years for the PS5 and next Xbox. In response to predictions on a 2019 release for the next Sony console and whether he believes in the likelihood of the company announcing news next year, Ward says: “No, I don’t. Why would Sony skip E3 and then launch a new console shortly afterward that with little buildup? It ain’t gonna happen.”

That’s certainly insightful knowledge!
