Pokemon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Reveals First Trailer And Release Date (VIDEO)
If your mind has not been graced by the friendship forging, tear-jerking animated film that is Pokemon: The First Movie, then you’re not yet prepared for the evolution that’s to come later this year. To start 2019 off right for fans around the world, The Pokemon Company revealed the first trailer for Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.
Featuring the beloved and badass Mewtwo, short clips from the original 1998 film and new CG footage show the titular character chasing none other than Mew. Check it out:
The scene is similar to the chase in the original film from the late 90s, save for the updated graphics. It’s unclear if Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is a remake or a follow-up storyline. Whatever it may be, our bio-engineered super Pokemon wakes up in the tank of a Team Rocket lab and he seeks revenge on those that created him. However, his actions could spell disaster for humanity.
Based on the short snippet seen in the video above, this is likely a modern version of the 1998 film. With that said, the original voice actor for Mewtwo, Masachika Ichimura, is back with that gorgeous, molasses voice to bring us all back to the old-school Kanto region. Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution heads to the big screen on July 12th, 2019.
Are you stoked to see Mewtwo make a comeback after all these years? Do you remember bawling like a baby in the first movie from 1998? Did that number just make you feel old?
