Persona 5’s Joker Is Getting The Amiibo Treatment

Persona 5 Joker Amiibo

As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continues its multi-game crossover with an extended DLC season, the likes of several new fighters have recently been confirmed for release by the end of the month. After much speculation, Min Min from the spring-loaded fighter ARMS is now readying to become the game’s next fighter alongside the likes of Fallout’s Vault Boy in the form of a premium Mii Fighter costume. Of course, the revealed didn’t stop there as Joker from Persona 5 was also confirmed to be getting the amiibo treatment later this year.

Smash Bros. creative lead Masahiro Sakurai confirmed the news during the game’s momentous announcement stream, assuring the Phantom Thief of the Persona series would arrive as an amiibo later this fall. Joker’s amiibo debut happens after joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster early last year, with the character now set to be represented in translucent blue flame as the latest in Nintendo’s line of interactive figures. The new amiibo was confirmed alongside another member of the game’s roster, Hero from Dragon Quest XI, who is also set to release in Fall 2020.

While Dragon Quest XI’s Hero and Joker from Persona 5 are still a little ways off from releasing, Sakurai confirmed several more amiibo are still set to arrive in the future. Though he couldn’t divulge how many more may ultimately hit shelves, it’s likely fans will see similar treatment for the likes of Banjo-Kazooie, Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard, as well as Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses sometime down the line. That’s not to mention Min Min and the remaining five fighters scheduled to release as part of the expanded Fighters Pass Vol. 2.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch.
