WATCH: Persona 5 Anime Trailer Reveals Protagonist’s Official Name
When Persona 5 was released on a global scale back in April, it practically took the world by storm. Since then, many fans have not only found it to be one of the best installments in the franchise, but are also considering it to be one of the best role-playing games of all time. That being said, it just wouldn’t be a Persona party without a Persona 5 anime, appropriately titled Persona 5: The Animation, which is set to air in Japan in April 2018. To make things even better, a trailer has appeared.
Much like the previous entry into the series, the Persona 5 anime brings with it the name of the story’s protagonist, Ren Amamiya. Throughout the game, players choose their own name, resulting in the hero never actually having a universal one. However, Persona 5: The Animation solves that issue, not unlike the Persona 4 anime did with Yu Narukami. Check out the video below to see a bit of the action that is inbound with the Persona 5 anime:

Here is more about the game, according to PlayStation’s website:
Persona 5 is a game about the internal and external conflicts of a group of troubled high school students – the protagonist and a collection of compatriots he meets in the game’s story – who live dual lives as Phantom Thieves. They have the typically ordinary day-to-day of a Tokyo high schooler: attending class, after-school activities, and part-time jobs. But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the “self”; the game’s heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and by literally ripping off their protective mask and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and using it to help those in need. Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern society wears.”
