Okami ‘Northern Country Kamui’ Western Style Cover is Beautiful and Well Done (VIDEO)
Originally released in 2006, Okami gained overwhelming attention and success for its beautifully executed folk story and wonderful artistry. In game, the player controls Amaterasu – a sun goddess who takes on the form of an elegant white wolf with a comic relief side kick by the name of Issun. Wrought with puzzles and original combat style during enemy encounters, Okami is one of those games where you sit back, relax and enjoy. Of course, while trying to purify the world of a wretched curse that infects the land of Nippon (Japan). Since the title’s debut in the early 2000’s, it has been released on the Wii in 2008, and again in 2012 as Okami HD for the PlayStation 3.
The art style, that makes the game stand out above the rest, can be described as animated Japanese ink wash paintings, reminiscent of the styles represented between the 17th to 19th century. Not only is the title renown for the art, it was praised for the amazing soundtrack as well. It was created by a team of composers – Rei Kondo, Masami Ueda, Hiroshi Yamaguchi, and Akari Groves. Fans of the game may know this song well, but have you heard of it covered with an American-Western style flare? YouTuber and “amateur French musician”, Lord Bif, is a huge fan of the game. So much so, he wanted to showcase it before the end of 2016.
If you haven’t checked it out already, Don’t Feed the Gamers reviewed the Okami Okamiden Amaterasu 1:4 Scale Statue. At 17″ long x 12″ tall x 12″ wide, not only is it monstrous in size – it is exquisitely painted and constructed with quality that is just heavenly. What do you think of the song cover? Do you like it, or do you prefer the original? Let us know in the comments section down below, we would love to hear from you.
