Office Space Mobile Game has Finally Arrived for IOS and Android 18 Years After the Film

Office Space

18 years after its release, the cult classic film Office Space is finally getting the mobile game treatment. Titled Office Space: Idle Profits, this little title allows the player to step into the role of a “lowly Initech corporate drone”, whose job is threatened by a college graduate. Like in the film, the objective of the game is to install a virus on the company’s software to steal money from Initech. Cue the disgruntled employees and a chaotic office experience for everyone!

Released on IOS and Android, this little game features characters such as Michael Bolton, Bill Lumbergh, Samir, Peter, and Milton (with his trusty red stapler) that are playable for gamers. As fans play this quirky and quite hilarious-looking mobile title, players will rack up money to unlock other playable characters and more Initech departments.

Not only will gamers get to try their luck at ripping off the system in Office Space: Idle Profits, but notable scenes from the film will also be included, like the infamous printer-destroying scene. The game was developed through Ultrabit, a subsidiary of Kongregate, and is also available through Kongregate, allowing fans to try this title out on PC as well.

In a statement on Gamestop’s website, a press release on the title’s launch went into detail about what game developers wanted to portray with this little mobile title’s story. “Everyone, at least once, has felt underappreciated at their job,” stated Cooper Bachman, Ultrabit’s General Manager. “When we started working on Office Space, everyone on the development team knew we were onto something special. Even 18 years later, the film’s themes are still relatable to all ages. And when we paired the film’s story and hilarious cast of characters with idle mechanics, it fit incredibly well.”
