New No Man’s Sky “Path Finder 1.22” Patch Allows New Vehicles on Every Planet

The original Path Finder update (1.20) was the second biggest update since No Man’s Sky‘s release in August 2016. Among several other major additions such as “base sharing”, permadeath mode, texture and visual overhauls, PlayStation 4 Pro support, new vehicles, races, and other changes – the update allowed the use of land Exocraft vehicles on planets. Except, the only problem with that ability was the restriction which meant it was only allowed as long as they were used on the designated home planet. That may or may not have been more than inconvenient for many players who weren’t afraid to let their voice be known. That is, until the recent announcement of Path Finder 1.22 that removes that restriction, as long as you can create a geobay. Check out the patch notes below:

Path Finder – Patch 1.22

  • Exocraft Geobays can now be crafted on any planet – this means vehicles can be summoned anywhere (whereas previously, vehicles could only be summoned on your home planet).
  • HUD markers have been added to allow you to easily navigate back to an Exocraft Geobay
  • Fixed a bug that caused vehicle weapons and mining lasers not to drain charge
  • Fixed an issue which could cause the Starship cockpit to vanish when exiting
  • Fixed some freighter door texture issues
  • Fixed a rare crash when scanning from a vehicle
  • Fixed a rare crash when feeding creatures
  • Fixed an issue which caused weapons to miss-fire when using Plasma Launcher
  • During warp the quick menu now hides properly as intended

Technically, there is a stipulation for using Exocrafts on a planet, but it’s certainly going to be much better than it is now! 1.22 has not been released yet, but according to the notes, the developing team at No Man’s Sky will be releasing it shortly. The most impressive feature of the original Path Finder update has to be the texture and visual overhaul. Hello Games even has a comparison slider for a couple images, showing the differences between Medium/Ultra and HBAO Off/On. It includes “more accurate ambient lighting”, “high contrast lighting effects”, “HDR mode”, “improved post-processing” and more. That’s not even scratching the surface of enhancements. Take a gander at the full details here!
