Nintendo Apologizes, Plans to Expand Production on Pokemon Go Plus

The Pokemon Go Plus is a little device that lets you know with a small LED and vibration when Pokemon or Pokestops are near without having to look at your phone. It connects to your smartphone using Bluetooth and will even catch the Pokemon or collect from the Pokestops for you without you even having to look at your phone. That is why people everywhere were so eager to buy them up and Nintendo was not prepared for such a high demand. President Tatsumi Kimishima apologized for the shortage and explained that sales far exceeded what they expected and they have yet to catch up to the demands.

“We launched the Pokemon Go Plus accessory on September 16 to provide a more comfortable play experience for Pokemon Go,… Demand far exceeded our expectations and production has not caught up, leading to product shortages. We apologize to the consumers and distributors affected by this. We are planning to expand production as needed, and will continue to produce and ship additional units.”

The shortage has also caused some people to sell them on Ebay for up to $250 new in box. The newest update for the Pokemon Go Plus has been causing issues by not connecting to people’s phones, but they are fixing that problem as well. The update is supposed to let you choose to get alerts for only Pokemon, Poke Stops, or both. The accessory sells at GameStop for $34.99, when it’s in stock.
