New Venom: Let There Be Carnage Trailer Reveals More Symbiote Action (VIDEO)
While it’s been a few months since premiering a debut look at Venom sequel Let There Be Carnage, it looks like Sony Pictures has revealed even more footage for the symbiote-filled follow-up. Centering on the ravenous relationship of Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote, the new trailer shows off a glorious assortment of new Carnage scenes as well, as well as a particularly evil Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady. Check it out below.
From the looks of the new Venom: Let There Be Carnage trailer, Carnage has shown itself to be a terrifying new threat to Venom and Eddie Brock as the red alien goo is able to extend all sorts of murderous weapons from the tendrils on its body. Sadly, we don’t see any clips of the two battling it out, but the video does depict a pretty humous exchange with Eddie bribing Venom with the treat of eating “everyone” as the two first encounter the “red one” himself.
Another interesting note from the trailer seemingly hints at the origin of Carnage in the first place. As Eddie once again meets up with Kasady in prison, the murderer violently bites Eddie’s hand and notes he’s tasted blood, “and that is not it.” The inclusion of this scene appears to suggest ingesting Eddie’s blood may be what introduces Kasady to the Carnage symbiote in a relatively different origin than that of the original comics.
In the comics, Carnage is introduced as the alien offspring of Venom, with the red spawn being the result of the symbiote species’ asexual reproduction. The comic version of Eddie Brock is not portrayed so virtuously as Tom Hardy’s version of the character, so when Comic Eddie ends up in prison alongside infamous murderer Cletus Kasady, the two team up and establishes the terrifying duo of Venom and Carnage. While not playing out the same way in the movie, the adventure certainly appears to be an exciting sequel for fans of the first one.
As per the movie’s official synopsis:
“Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of MARVEL’s greatest and most complex characters. Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage.
