Horizon Forbidden West Reportedly Delayed Into 2022

Horizon Forbidden West

Revealed just over a year ago, Horizon Forbidden West has been heading towards a late 2021 release for current and last-gen PlayStation platforms. While Sony and developer Guerrilla Games have not indicated otherwise, the launch now appears like it might be a bit later than expected. As per Bloomberg‘s Jason Schreier, the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel is reportedly delayed, with a source “familiar with the matter” now placing the release window to sometime in the first quarter of 2022.

This report comes shortly after Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb extended a similar rumor regarding Horizon Forbidden West, which was revealed on the journalist’s livestream show. As revealed during the July 29 episode (via VGC), Grubb’s source suggested Guerrilla might push the release of the upcoming game into 2022, with a formal delay announcement happening around September. While Bloomberg didn’t corroborate as much in its new report, Schreier indicated the delay was set in stone “a little while ago.”

Speculation has been mounting about the release date of Horizon Forbidden West, and this new report may not be too surprising to anyone with lowered expectations. However, the reveal comes only a month after Guerrilla hinted work on the game was flowing steadily into its final stages of development. If this delay comes to pass, Forbidden West will not only miss out on its expected holiday launch, but it will also join the God of War sequel in being delayed to next year.
