New Phantom Dust Details Emerge with Re-Release Gameplay (VIDEO)

Phantom Dust details

Creative director of Microsoft Studios Adam Isgreen sat down for an interview in which he discussed Phantom Dust details. Not only did he talk about the work being done, he also gave a first look at gameplay for the re-release. Fans can check out the gameplay, courtesy of Polygon, below:

According to Isgreen, there was no final source code available from Japan when they pulled the game’s archives. This presented some unique challenges for the team. This has not stopped Microsoft from altering the Phantom Dust details enough to improve upon the game for fans.

So everything that we’ve been able to do in this version of Phantom Dust has been through reverse-engineering the binaries, and actually hacking and cracking the code back open again.”

Microsoft has also improved the game’s resolution and aspect ratio. The team moved the ratio to 16:9 and made the game able to render in 1080p and 4K. If that wasn’t enough of a change, Isgreen discusses more of the Phantom Dust details in regards to gameplay:

If you fail three times on any mission while you’re playing the campaign, you can skip it…You still get your rewards, and we’re OK with that. There are some achievements that are tied to not skipping and doing challenging things, so if people just want to experience the wonderful story of Phantom Dust, that’s definitely one way they can do it.

So if people want to grind and they want to play exactly like they did when the original game came out, that is all in place. Everything about how the game works and functions is there. We really wanted to allow people to jump into multiplayer and play immediately.”

Ultimately, Isgreen wanted players to get into the meat of the deck building aspect of the game sooner than the game initially does. Many fans of the original complainedthat campaign mode was slow on the up take and the remastering team is focused on changing that. No release date has been set yet, but we’re sure more Phantom Dust deatils will emerge soon.
