New Nintendo Switch Model Coming Later This Year
Last month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Nintendo would soon release two new Nintendo Switch models later this year, perhaps even as soon as Summer. It would likely make its official reveal during E3, offering a more affordable version for casual gamers, and a souped up version of the current market offer. According to the latest report, however, it won’t be arriving as soon as previously anticipated.
Thanks to Japanese media outlet Nikkei, one of the two aforementioned models of the Nintendo Switch launch this Fall, offering a less expensive means for portable entertainment. According to WSJ, suppliers and developers sees it as a “successor to its aging hand-held 3DS device.” In order to create a competitive market price, the manufacturer “plans to eliminate some of the functions used in the original Switch console, such as a vibration feature in its controllers, according to Nintendo suppliers.”
Despite portability as the main feature for the cheaper version, the design still allows docking for TVs. In terms of the more powerful next generation model of the Nintendo Switch, it won’t compete on the same level as Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro, but does offer enhanced features for passionate gamers. Details are scarce for the time being as manufacturers continue through rigorous testing before shipment. However, onlookers can expect to see it this holiday season.
What do you think about the two alternative options for the Nintedo Switch? Are you looking to make the upgrade for the enhanced model, or will you be eyeing the cheaper one?
