The gaming industry has many prolific creators, with few being as enigmatic and beloved as Hideo Kojima. The auteur is best known for his extensive work on the Metal Gear franchise, and more recently has been known for starting his own studio, Hideo Kojima Productions. So far that studio found success with its first game, Death Stranding, and has high ambitions to enter the worlds of film and television. However, the studio has been fairly silent about whatever its next video game projects might end up being. Now, Hideo Kojima has hinted at two new Hideo Kojima Productions games in the works.

Hideo Kojima, along with several other big video games creators, recently had comments about his work in the coming new year recorded in a new piece for Gematsu. Among Kojima’s peers that provided comments include Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro and Goichi Suda of Grasshopper Manufacture. As for Kojima, here’s what he had to say about two new Hideo Kojima Productions games that will be a focus for him in 2022:

A big title, and a title that’s a new challenge. As the boundaries of entertainment disappear in the near future, I’d like to make this a year that we take a step forward into challenging different mediums and expressions.”

Hideo Kojima Productions had previously made it known that they would be partnering with Hollywood producers on new film and television projects, presumably related to their video game franchises such as Death Stranding. As for these two new Hideo Kojima Productions games, it is possible that one may be a sequel to Death Stranding, but the other is almost certainly a new IP. Whatever these titles end up being, Kojima has proven himself to be a truly creative artist, and these games will likely reflect his free spirit and imagination.
