343 Industries Announces New Halo Game, A Co-Op Arcade Shooter Experience (VIDEO)

When the Halo franchise first began, who knew it would leave such a legacy? The games were massive fun as a science fiction shooter and 343 Industries has an over the top method of bringing the classic experience back into the hands of gamers. In fact, players will have to step outside their home to test out this beast. Announcing Halo: Fireteam Raven, the developer partnered up with arcade game creators Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix to bring a cooperative arcade shooter, where players can battle the threat of the Covenant and Flood.

Set during the timeframe of Halo: Combat Evolved, up to 4 players will try their hands at taking down enemies as a “group of elite Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST)” on Alpha Halo. Master Chief and the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) will fight by your side to hamper the enemies efforts in obtaining control of the ancient superweapon. Check out the introductory trailer for Halo: Fireteam Raven below:

The Halo: Fireteam Raven arcade cabinet will host an “enormous 130-inch, 4k screen experience and four turret-mounted, multipurpose machine guns”. It will be coin operated, so get all that change you’ve collected and prepare for a thrill ride of explosions, gun fights, and gargantuan enemies; many of them will look familiar too. According to Kiki Wolfkill, head of Halo Transmedia at 343, bringing about this new idea has been a worthwhile challenge and a completely different ballgame compared to console and PC platforms.

We couldn’t be happier to announce this project and have had an absolute blast working with Eugene Jarvis – one of my personal heroes and inspirations – and the wonderful team of talented designers and creators at Raw Thrills. Arcade games are a wholly different challenge compared to console and PC gaming, and we’ve learned a tremendous amount as we worked with Raw Thrills to make this happen.”

As a neat feature for gamers utilizing Halo Waypoint, scan a QRC code with a personal phone to connect to the Halo arcade experience and compete for the highest scores with friends. Halo: Fireteam Raven will appear at Dave & Busters throughout the United States and Canada this Summer, but specific locations have not been revealed just yet. More to be revealed soon.
