Sea of Thieves To Launch First Content Update ‘The Hungering Deep’ This Month (VIDEO)

Sea of Thieves

Rare LTD. announced back in April that they had plans to unveil major content updates and weekly plans going forward. Today, the team behind Sea of Thieves has released the trailer for the first of these content updates called ‘The Hungering Deep’. The major focus of the update appears to be surrounding an ancient sea monster(s) that lurk below the surface of the water, that have the ability to make ships disappear from ocean. Just listen to the eerie tale by the campfire our one eyed pirate guide shares on the topic:

From the Sea of Theives official YouTube channel, the shared the following information alongside The Hungering Deep trailer:

Do the sailors on the Sea of Thieves face a new threat, or an ancient one? Hear the stories and steel yourselves for new challenges in the first content update for Rare’s shared world pirate adventure. Time to find out what hides in The Hungering Deep!”

From what we can interpret from watching the trailer is that the focus of this content update will be on sharks, specifically the Megalodon. This ancient sea dweller was an enormous monster of a shark that roamed the earth approximately 23 to 26 million years ago. With a size of 60 ft and weighing in over 70 tons, it really would have the ability to bring ships down to Davy Jones locker. Additionally, another interpretation of this update is that players will somehow be able to summon the beast. When the content update goes live on May 29th, we will find out for sure what lurks in the deep.
