Netflix very recently tweeted “Have you seen death?”, “Have you seen Darkness?”, and “Have you seen the Light?”, followed by a few 3 second videos featuring a young lady running across a bridge; and soon after, released the trailer for their new original series, The OA

A powerful, mind-bending tale about identity, human connection and the borders between life and death.

Little details have been released about The OA, but it seems obvious that it will explore the supernatural and the unknown. Coming from Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, creative duo behind The East, this has the potential to be something amazing, and the trailer above certainly shows it. Tallying in at a total of 8 episodes, The OA will star Ian Alexander, Will Brill (known for his role as Wells in Not Fade Away), Alice Krige (most well known for playing the Borg Queen in Star Trek, and recently as Eir in Thor: The Dark World), and Emory Cohen (known for playing Leo Houston in Smash).

Netflix has gained a wonderful reputation with its original series lately, having huge success with shows such as Stranger Things (with season 2 on its way), Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and more. There’s no doubt that this will be another hit if they can continue to bring us such fantastic work. I for one am really looking forward to seeing how this plays out, especially after having fallen in love with Stranger Things.
