This coming January promises to ring in a new year and with that comes an all new month of Netflix selections. Aligning with the confetti-fied festivities, Netflix January 2018 has quite the lot of old favorites and new additions to the streaming service, the biggest arrivals being the bald, briefed superhero Captain Underpants, the automotive animation Cars 3, and Disney’s fifth entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

The early-month avalanche of film favorites brings forth all four Burton-Schumacher Batman films, the acclaimed crime drama The Shawshank Redemption, as well as the sweet, but strange adventure of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Netflix January 2018 also debuts a number of Original programming throughout the month including the Jack Black’s scam comedy The Polka King, the violent stylings of Devilman Crybaby, and the deep-digging docuseries Rotten.

With all these excellent new offerings, Netflix January 2018 also says goodbye to several popular shows and movies. The gothic comedy The Addams Family is on its way out, as is the beloved first season of Pokémon and the final episodes of Futurama. Quentin Tarantino‘s Pulp Fiction, the torturous horror of the Saw series, and the infinitely mysterious show Lost are also saying goodbye for the time being.

The last month has seen several new series announced for Netflix in the foreseeable future. the Riverdale spin-off based on Sabrina the Teenage Witch is headed to the service, the planned Witcher series has found a fitting showrunner, and a new animated series centered on Masters of the Universe character She-Ra is officially in the works.
