Netflix: What’s New and What’s Leaving in April 2017
It’s the end of March and that occasion calls for a look into the upcoming month’s Netflix offerings for April 2017. Arriving throughout the month are family-friendly Kubo and the Two Strings, The Secret Life of Pets, and Disney’s The BFG, the latter of which was originally set to be added to Netflix’s library last week, but ended up being delayed for whatever reason. Original programming seems to have a large presence this month with the landing of Adam Sandler’s latest Sandy Wexler and the revival of the movie commentary series Mystery Science Theater 3000. Netflix-branded musical series The Get Down is receiving more episodes to groove to, and learning from the “Science Guy” will be possible once more with the premiere of Bill Nye Saves the World.
The bad news when entering April 2017 is that there are quite a few memorable titles leaving. The old-but-gold Superman movie series is getting the boot early on in the month as well as classic 80s films Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Princess Bride. Most notably, Joss Whedon’s body of work will take a large hit with the removal of the cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, and Firefly from the service, leaving a hole in the hearts of so many fans.
