Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge Reveals Violent Red Band Trailer (VIDEO)

While Mortal Kombat 11 is in the midst of introducing its newest character, the violent fighter franchise is also expanding its reach elsewhere with a total of two movies currently gearing for a release. In addition to next year’s live-action film, an animated adventure called Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is also preparing to take the series into the realm of cinema, following the demonic rise of long-time series character Hanzo Hasashi, a.k.a. Scorpion. Though recent weeks have seen the film officially revealed, a new red-band trailer has now teased all the R-rated content Scorpion’s Revenge has to offer.

As covered recently by Prima Games, the new footage not only gives a look at the classic backstory behind Scorpion’s Revenge, but also the very mature nature of the upcoming animation. We see the likes of Sub Zero impale his foe in the face, Liu Kang dismembering other kombatants, and Sonya Blade stomping enemies into the ground. Also noticeable are several callbacks to the game series such as violent close-ups reminiscent of X-ray/Fatal Blow attacks as well as Scorpion’s signature “get over here” line making its way in the movie. Check out the trailer and official description below.

Based on the worldwide hit game created by Ed Boon & John Tobias, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge spotlights the once-in-a-generation tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm – a competition that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and all its citizens.
